DSA-JC Application Process
Welcome to the application page for the 2026 DSA-JC exercise, for admission
in year 2027.
If you are applying to Victoria Junior College through DSA-JC, please:

Complete and submit this online DSA application form (open from 6 May 2026 to 3 July 2026), with supporting documents as pdf or photo attachments

Take note of the key information for your chosen talent area, such as selection process, criteria and dates.
The set of supporting documents comprises the following:

CCA records (all available records in Secondary school);
-
Exam result slips – Sec 3 (End of Year exams and Overall), Sec 4 (Weighted Assessment results)*;
-
Other supporting documents – such as awards or the highest certification of achievements;
-
For students applying for our Niche Academic Programmes (Drama Elective Programme (DEP), Humanities Programme, Infocomm Technology (Computing), Science Research), include any relevant supporting documents as per the instructions for the specific Talent Area
You should get these documents and a digital passport-sized photograph
of yourself ready before you start the online application.
* We understand that some secondary schools may not have released the Sec 4 Weighted Assessment results at the time of your application. Affected applicants may submit their DSA application by 3 July 2026 without this set of results. Once you receive the Weighted Assessment results, you may email the results to the teacher-in-charge of your chosen talent area. For Sec 5NA students who are applying, you can attach your Sec 4NA results and any Sec 5NA WA results you might have.
Successful applicants may be asked to show proof of originals of the above records during the offer phase.
Applications should reach us latest by 03 July 2026, 1700hrs. Incomplete applications (such as those with incomplete information or without a complete set of supporting documents) may not be considered.
All shortlisted applicants who have participated in the phase 1 selection will be informed of the outcome between 28 July and 11 August 2026.

Performing Arts
Selection will be based on a basket of criteria for the respective talent area.
Auditions will take place in Victoria Junior College. Note the dates and times for auditions. The teacher in-charge will contact shortlisted applicants to confirm the date and time allocated.
Chinese Orchestra
Date and Time of Audition :
11 July 2026, Saturday, 8.30am – 1.00pm
15 July 2026, Wednesday, 4.30pm – 7.00pm
Venue : Chinese Orchestra Music Room
Format : All applicants are required to perform a piece
that contains at least 16 bars each of fast and slow tempo. Applicants
for percussion instruments are to prepare a piece that showcases contrasting
tempo as well.
Applicants will also be given a sight-reading exercise comprising at least
8 bars of music and undergo an interview after the audition.

Choir

Format : All applicants are required to undergo an audition
(vocal testing exercise) conducted by the choir master, as well as an interview.
No song preparation is required.

Concert Band

Venue : Band Room
Format : All applicants are required to play two contrasting
pieces of their choice, and to prepare all 12 major scales. Percussionists
should prepare one piece on mallets and another piece on drums or drum
set. Applicants will also undergo an interview.

Contemporary Dance

Format : There will be 3 rounds to the auditions.
Shortlisted candidates who clear each round will complete all 3 rounds
within the allocated slot.
IMPORTANT NOTES
We invite dancers with strong technical foundations, confident performance
skills, and versatility across genres to audition. We encourage applicants
to thoughtfully consider their readiness and not treat the audition as
a trial or exploratory attempt. This ensures that your time and energy
are respected, and that the audition experience is meaningful for all involved.
We are especially keen to welcome more male dancers into our ensemble
given the variety of genres offered in our dance programme — if you’re
technically strong and ready to grow further, we’d love to see you at auditions.
Round 1
All applicants will be required to prepare a solo dance piece to a song
of their choice, of not more than 1 minute.
Please note that candidates must apply based on only one of the following dance genres:

Contemporary

Street Dance (only Hip Hop , Break Dancing, Popping, Locking)
All other dance genres namely, Ethnic dance (Chinese, Malay, Indian dance),
fusion dance forms or other forms of street dance will not be
eligible for consideration.
Round 2
Applicants who pass Round 1 will learn and perform a contemporary choreography
taught by our instructor. This round assesses your ability to translate
instruction into performance effectively, embody and execute choreography
with precision under time constraints.
Round 3
Applicants who pass Round 2 will proceed to Round 3.
All shortlisted applicants will undergo an interview with the selection panel.
Attire :
All applicants should audition in the dance gear and footwear suitable for their respective dance genres.
Selection Criteria :
1. Applicants should display technical excellence, musicality, and performance quality in your solo performance (Round 1) and during choreography execution (Round 2).
2. Applicants should display versatility. While you audition in one genre, those with demonstrated strength across multiple styles are highly regarded.
3. Applicants should possess the ability to cope with the academic rigour of the JC curriculum.

Guitar Ensemble

Format : All applicants are required to play a solo piece
(not section score or ensemble part) of their choice on a classical guitar
lasting not more than 5 minutes. Applicants are also required to sight
read a piece provided by the conductor. Applicants will undergo an interview
after the audition.

Format : All applicants are required to prepare two contrasting solo pieces
(eg musical periods, tempo) of their choice. No accompaniment will
be available. Applicants must have experience playing one of the string
instruments - violin, viola, cello or double bass. Applicants will also
undergo an interview.

Format: Trials are usually not conducted, as applicants

Students applying for Niche Academic Programmes are required to produce an additional personal statement/essay, which can be uploaded as a PDF as an additional supporting document. Humanities Programme

Format: On the spot short writing task; F2F Group interview
(1) Applicant must submit the following:

An essay* containing the applicant’s response to the following prompts:
Share about a book, movie, performance, or work of art, which you find so compelling, that you will engage with it again. Why does it captivate or bewilder you?
The essay must not exceed 500 words and must not be written using the aid of generative AI tools.
-
Portfolio consisting of a maximum of THREE writing samples showcasing the applicant’s ability in the Humanities subjects (e.g. English Literature, Geography, History, Art, Drama) AND English Language.
The writing samples in the portfolio may be work done for school or external competitions and/or publications but must not be group work. If you are submitting work that is part of group work, please highlight the individual component.
(c) Supporting documents providing evidence of the applicant’s participation and/or achievements in Humanities-related programmes, competitions and/or events (e.g. Model United Nations conferences, current affairs competitions, creative writing programmes, school-based Humanities talent development programmes)
(2) Shortlisted applicants will attend a group interview, which includes
an on the spot writing exercise.
*Please note incomplete essay/portfolio submissions will not be entertained.

(1) Demonstration of strong interest and aptitude in the Humanities;
(2) Evidence of participation and/or achievements in Humanities-related programmes, competitions and/or events;

Infocomm Technology (Computing)

Shortlisted applicants will be provided with the relevant details. Interviews
are scheduled for the second and third weeks of July.
Format:

All applicants must submit a personal statement (maximum 500 words) describing their involvement in Computing-related activities, accompanied by relevant supporting documents.
Supporting documents may include:

Certificates from competitions such as the National Olympiad in Informatics, National Cybersecurity Olympiad, National Olympiad in AI and other hackathons.

Certifications or evidence of completed courses, workshops, bootcamps, or work attachments.

Applicants must submit a personal statement (maximum 500 words) detailing his/her involvement in STEM/research activities with relevant supporting documents.
Supporting documents may include:
abstracts of research reports
photos of exhibits, prototypes
certificates related to courses, workshops, or other involvement in the field of STEM/Science research
This personal statement and supporting documents should be submitted as
an attachment.

Shortlisted applicants will attend an interview which includes an oral review of a research article
Selection Criteria:

Demonstration of knowledge, interest and passion in STEM Research

Clear articulation of motivation and purpose in joining Research@VJC
-
Evidence of past experiences relevant to STEM Research
-
Ability to cope with the rigour of the A-Level curriculum
Expectations of students selected into the programme
Students admitted through DSA Science Research must
-
Complete a research project under the school-based research programme;
-
Participate in SSEF and
-
Be involved in VJC Science and Technology Centre events.
